20th August

11:10am- I finally managed to get the antibiotics into her mouth, or at least near it! Good news is she ate most of her dinner last night instead of just cabbage. She keeps getting her ear caught behind the cone poor thing. The incision is nice and clean so hopefully the cone can come off. We have a vet appointment this afternoon for myxi jabs and a post op check up! Smokey is not allowed her jab yet which is fair I enough, poor thing doesn't know what is going on! She is putting up a hell of a fight when being picked up and given her antibiotics, I am worried that she may tear the incision if she continues to kick out.

19th August

10:30a- Tried to give her some antibiotics again this morning with no luck. She kicks and scrambles and I can't find her mouth, too much hair! lol. Had to clean her bottom due to the anti biotics and cone. She ate two leaves of cabbage and some husks from the corn. She is very hyper this morning and keeps scratching at her cone bless her. Will have to clean her out later and let her do some roaming!

Cage

Had to change the cage to accomodate her cone! The boys were not very impressed with their smaller cage but it is only temporary.

Day 5- Saturday 18th August

2:45pm- It has been 24hours since Smokey's spay and she didn't eat any of her veg last night but did eat some dandelion leaves. So I went to the shop and got some more vegetables for her. She munched down on some more dandelion leaves and ate almost an entire leaf of cabbage. She got very angry when I tried to hand feed her, she thumped at me three times and hid up. Tried to give her antibiotics in the morning but totally missed her mouth and got it all down her chin which she licked up. Her incision was still nice and clean... she seems to be coping with the cone! Another 2weeks and then she will move outside and start the bonding process. She is up and alert, considering getting her out for a run around or a groom.

Day 1

Tuesday14th August- We didn't hear back from the women that I was adopting for so we popped down to see if she was in, which she was! We brought Smokey home with us and put her straight into her cage. Left her to settle in the rest of the night.

Wednesday 15th August- Smokey ate all her dinner! She is still a little nervous and doesn't like to be handled. Came out for a groom but hid up. Called the vets and booked her an appointment to be spayed on Friday at 9:10am.

Thursday 16th August- Smokey came out again and ventured around the bedroom, getting more confident.
Friday 17th August- Smokey went into the vets for her spay, ate food before the spay but not afterwards. The spay went well and the incision is clean and neat. Didn't eat her dinner but ate some dandelion leaves. Had to adjust the cage to accomodate her cone head!
